Subsidized Child Care Wait List

Printer-friendly version

DEL administers Washington State's Working Connections and Seasonal Child Care subsidy programs.  Forecasts for these programs indicate that consumer needs will exceed the program funds appropriated by the Legislature in the next two years (fiscal years 2018-19).  Wait lists will be created when consumer needs exceed the appropriated funds for these programs.

DEL adopted rules that  clarify how the lists will be administered, including prioritization, when benefits start for a consumer who is taken off the wait list, withdrawal from and reinstatement to the wait list, and provider payment terms.  The rules took effect May 15, 2017.

SSB 5883 (2017-19 Operating Budget) revised the priority groups and DEL is now updating WAC 170-290-2210 to incorporate those changes.  Amended WAC 170-290-2210 was adopted October 30, 2017 and will take effect November 30, 2017.
