In July 2011, Washington moved to a nonexpiring license, per Senate Bill 5625, passed during that year's legislative session. Today, child care homes and centers must be monitored every 12 months.
All licensees must submit the following documents 30 days prior to the anniversary date of the license:
- The annual licensing fee on time.
- A Declaration of Compliance before their license anniversary date.
- All background check applications on the schedule established by DEL — every three years and when a new person is hired or, for family homes, moves into the home, or a household member turns 13.
