The Department of Early Learning (DEL) does a background check on anyone who is authorized to care for or have unsupervised access to children in child care that is licensed or certified by DEL. Background check rules for licensed and certified child care providers are located in
WAC 170-06.

Background check rules for non-licensed in-home and relative child care providers paid by the Working Connections Child Care subsidy program are in WAC 170-290.
